Shelly Haddon

I love teaching Spanish and have been a licensed Spanish teacher in Colorado and in the Twin Cities for the past twelve years.  I have enjoyed teacimage1hing all levels of Spanish from kindergarten to advanced high school Spanish.  I grew up in a Spanish speaking family and have been fortunate enough to have been surrounded by the language and culture throughout my life. My stepfather is from Mexico and we often had family and friends from Mexico visiting while I was growing up.  Speaking Spanish, making Latino food and celebrating Latino holidays and traditions was a very fun part of my childhood.
I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Minnesota with a degree in Anthropology and Spanish.  When I was in college I had the opportunity to spend a semester in Spain.  When I left Spain I was forever transformed.  I knew then that I wanted to become a Spanish teacher.  When I entered the Graduate School of Education at Hamline University, I chose a program that would offer another opportunity to learn through an exchange program.  After finishing my urban student teaching in Minneapolis Public Schools, I spent several months living and student teaching in a full immersion environment in Tres Rios, Costa Rica.  I have been back to Costa Rica several times since then and even got married on the beach there! I am a lifelong learner of Spanish and love traveling and exploring new places and meeting new people.
I am so excited to be teaching Spanish at Two Rivers Community School and to be living back in the valley.  I love reading, traveling and spending time outdoors. I especially love being a mom to my two children, Neena and Micah.
